Black Bag is a gripping spy drama about legendary intelligence agents George Woodhouse (Michael Fassbender) and his beloved wife Kathryn (Cate Blanchett). When she is suspected of betraying the nation, George faces the ultimate test – loyalty to his marriage or his country.
Starring: Michael Fassbender; Gustaf Skarsgård; Cate Blanchett; Tom Burke; Marisa Abela; Regé-Jean Page; Naomie Harris; Kae Alexander; Martin Bassindale; Pierce Brosnan; Megan Kimber; Paul Bailey; Bruce Mackinnon; Orli Shuka; Daniel Dow; Dane Juler; Reena Dusila; Ambika Mod; Alex Magliaro; Summer Knox
“Its pleasures lie in the dialogue, the twists, the reveals. It all leads to a delightful Agatha Christie-style drawing room denouement, in which the rat is exposed, their best-laid plans laid to waste. Like the film as a whole, it’s deliciously, lip-smackingly satisfying.” (John Nugent, Empire)
“Black Bag may be rooted in the mind, but it is inextricably connected to the heart, especially in matters of love and trust, betrayal and murder. That’s what makes a Soderbergh [director] genre exercise such a deliciously satisfying cinematic morsel: It is pure fun, but also deeply layered with larger existential themes, making for a delightful romantic spy drama that cannot be missed.” (Katie Walsh, The Seattle Times)
“With an A+ cast at the top of their game, a tight 93 minute running time, and dialogue with wit and bite, this finds the director with one of his best opportunities to do what he does so well and give that older audience a reason to go back to the movies.” (Pete Hammond, Deadline Hollywood Daily)
